Mid-January 2009, the draft cohort epidemiological Constances (to see the CES-Test Centers health) is jointly launched by Inserm, CNAMTS in collaboration with the Ministry CETAF * and the charge of Health (Directorate General of Health)..
This cohort will, by tracking participants over a long duration, to study the effects of risk factors on various health problems, and to describe the evolution over the years. Ultimately, it should be constituted by a broad representative sample of adults ages 18 to 69 years affiliated with the General Regime of Social Security. It will mark the largest study of its kind in France.
Subsequently, a self-administered questionnaire will be sent to participants each year at their home. They will also be invited to return regularly in the CES for examination intended to study the evolution of their health. In parallel, information on developments in health and socio-professional life will be extracted, with their express permission, the database of the National Health Insurance and Pension Insurance.
After this pilot phase, the full cohort will be gradually incorporated Constances from late 2009-early 2010. She then rely on a network of 17 health examination centers (ESC). They will constitute a privileged platform to perform a collection of standardized information quality.
